Thank you for visiting the web site of Electric Spin Enterprises, a company that fuses my passion for great horses with a love of design. I am so blessed to be able to do what I enjoy for a living.
I’m Jenn Leiker, the gal you’ll be talking to if you call up Electric Spin Enterprises looking for a horse or a web site. Occasionally new clients will ask about my background, so here it is.
I grew up horse-crazy in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, and later attended an Equine Science Associates program at Olds College in southern Alberta with the goal of becoming a professional horse trainer. |

In college I was introduced to the challenging sport of reining, and was hooked completely from the first sliding stop. Over the next eight years I worked for myself and a few established horsemen, training reiners in Austria, Texas, Canada and Colorado. I truly loved the thrill of riding a good horse on the trail or in the show pen, learning more about the sport from top hands, and helping non pros learn to show. Reiners are a wonderful group of people.
As anyone in the business can tell you, horse training is a tough way to make a living. Long hours and little pay are the norm - and the price you pay for doing what you love. I did love training and showing, but at night I’d also pore over the monthly horse magazines and critique the advertisements and page layouts. All through school I had sketched and painted, but as an adult I was too exhausted at the end of the day to invest energy into anything creative. A high school career test’s results had pegged me as a potential ‘graphic designer’, but at the time I assumed it was only because ‘horse trainer’ wasn't considered a valid career category!
In 2003 after meeting my husband, Dave, I left full-time training and got a ‘day job’. I took a few evening courses at the University of Colorado in Boulder and purchased the recommended design programs. At night I struggled to learn them, and picked up a few clients here and there. Over time my client base grew large enough that I could ‘quit my day job’ and design full-time from a home office.

I also discovered a new and true love; reined cow horses. The thrill of going down the fence is like nothing else! It spurred me to create a new cow horse web site, www.DownTheFence.com - check it out!
This past year we’ve incorporated the horses into what was formerly just Electric Spin Design. It’s an exciting combination; the horses and the design are a nice counter-balance. Look for a few reiners and cow horses for sale each year as we try some breeding and develop a program that works for us. |
Thank you again for your interest in Electric Spin Enterprises, and I hope you’ll give me a call at 720.890.8908 or shoot me an email to talk about your design needs.
